Yep, really, we should name all these defense systems after playmates. Britny, Amber, Pepper. I think we'd be much more threatening.

No, I think people should be responsible for their actions, I just know I've made assumptions in the past and been wrong (quite a bit actually). It's unfortunate the guy was driving down the middle of the road. I hope he's ok and that he didn't cause any accidents. If he's indeed an "asshole" then he'll be judged elsewhere (if you believe that) for his actions. If he was just oblivious, then someone should call attention to it (I doubt he'll ever read your blog entry, but if it makes you feel better, great). If he was just scared and just trying to stay on the road, then I hope he made it to his destination safely. Now if we could figure out a marketing scheme for being able to get a message to someone via their license plate number (if it wasn't covered in snow), then you could direct the resentment right at him, otherwise he doesn't even know.

Doug, reread the post. I did not honk my horn, I did not tale gate. He was in an SUV and drove down the middle of a 2 lane road. He chose to drive his big SUV he bought when he obviously did not know how to in weather he had no right being on the road in. There is a reason there are Snow Emergency Levels. If he was emotionally unbalanced like you offer, he should not have been on the road. True, he could have been handicapped and needed hand controls, but I didn't see any ladder for him to use to climb up into his vehicle. Further, there were no handicap stickers/signs/licenseplate adornments. This guy didn't have the facial expression of anyone looking to help anyone else.

He was a danger to the other drivers on the road. He should never have gone out in weather conditions he did not feel comfortable driving in.

You imply with your statement "shouldn't judge" that I am judging him. I'm not. I don't care his motivations, handicaps or anything else. His actions were unsafe. Period.

I'm actually less annoyed at this guy than I am with your attitude that we shouldn't hold people culpable for their actions because there may be motivations we don't understand. The ends do not justify the means. That's what I keep hearing. Make up your mind.

I wouldn't fault anyone with being cautious out there today. If you don't like how they are driving I'm pretty sure there are other lanes to choose from. But making another person nervous is not the answer. Perhaps you've grown up with this kind of weather, but this *could* be the persons first time, and just because they have an expedition, doesn't mean they've had experience. They probably bought it to try and help. Or perhaps they had a bad experience once. We never know and probably shouldn't judge. For all you know the person was handicapped and using hand controls.

I thought they spent way to much time with him as a little boy / old man. I was bored. But Dark Knight bored me too. Sucky year for movies. I did watch "The Visitor" the other night on DVD. Good movie, good message, good acting.
